Our partner organizations include:
• Saint Michael Indian School – a private school establish in Saint Micheals, Arizona in 1902 located on 440 acres of land. Current enrollment is approximately 360 students from pre-school to 12th grade. We have been developing a gardening program here for the past ten years. This is our primary training location for our School Garden Instructor and Earth Restoration Leadership programs .
• Good Shepherd Mission – An Episcopal mission with 40 acres of land in Fort Defiance and home to the greenhouse and garden where we run our seedling plant propagation program and our other training location.
• Tséhootsoi Medical Center – SEEDS Consults on school and community garden initiatives and provides training for community health workers pertaining to gardening programs focused on improving nutrition and healthy lifestyles.
• Rez Refuge – a community youth center in Fort Defiance that runs after-school programs. SEEDS provides technical assistance for their garden program.
• Window Rock Unified School District – SEEDS consults on garden programs and coordinates volunteer workers from outside of the reservation at public schools, kindergarten to high school in the Window Rock area.
• Saint Michael Association for Special Education – a school in Window Rock for students with developmental disabilities. This was our first project on the Navajo Reservation begun in 2000 running for six years. SEEDS developed a specialized gardening program, an animal therapy program and a vocational ceramics program. SEEDS continues to explore ways for these students to integrate into the community
• Valley High School – the public high school in Sanders, Arizona. SEEDS consults on curriculum for their high school level gardening program and has conducted fruit tree pruning workshops for their very productive fruit tree orchard.
• University of Arizona Extension Service and U of A Community & School Garden Program – SEEDS enlists educational resources from U of A to present classes on gardening topics to our local schools and community centers.
• Diné College Land Grant Office – our local college level program for sustainable agriculture. SEEDS provides presentations at the College’s annual Food Summit for sustainable agriculture, and consults on gardens and food producing native plants.
• Sanders Public Health Nursing Office – one of our more successful and productive garden project partners, due to the interest and enthusiasm of the staff. The garden is an educational resource and inspiration for the Sanders community.
